Gears 2 is a good sequel, in the fact that it doesn't feel like a transition game. Usually part 2 only acts as the story between a good starter and an epic finale. This series only feels like a 2gamer at the end of the game, but there may be a third if the writers are creative enough. 2 focuses around mopping up the Locust Horde on their turf before they sink Jacinto. They improved upon the original's biggest weaknes; dead time. Gears 2 makes your downtime tense, instead of running from battle to battle you expect a random encounter when you are alone. The combat is still extremely intense and damage realistic. If your head goes up, you go down. fast. The enemies are still the same old Locust, but now they have bigger friends. In this respect its still the same Gears. A few new weapons and enemies add to Gears already great gameplay, but its nothing that new or original. Of the new features the curbstomp is my personal favorite. Horde is also a new mode for Gears, and the wave based gameplay is a good training ground/achievement aide for Seriously 2.0.
