Muse : Absolution. Overall rating ? 8/10. A good buy.
When first picking the album up its easy to tell that Muse isn't an ordinary band. the political side of the album is intriguing and makes it hard to understand at some times though the actual music is almost revolutionary. With some of the more catchy songs that have been put out on British and American radios in a long time.
The vocals 9.5/10 Matthew Bellamy The singer/guitarist/song writer/ and lyric writer. Matthew does a great job with his lyrics. His voice echo's over the rest of the music and blends very easily. The content of the lyrics is again very political with some sub notes hidden inside for the listener to pick out on his/her own The vocal work is almost perfect. UPS: Very smooth lyrics. They stand out and go well with the music being played. DOWNS: At some points in the work it gets very confusing.
Guitar 7/10 Matthew plays the guitar very well throughout the album but doesn't really stand out or play as much as he could. Not much to say. UPS: Sounds good with the bass. Good for Muse. DOWNS: Not enough guitar for some people.
Bass. 10/10 Christopher Wolstenholme Bassist/back up vocals/song writer. On this album Christopher does an amazing job of playing bass. The songs Hysteria and Time is Running Out Both feature very defined bass riffs. The riffs are both very catchy and draw you into the song. The bass tone simply stands out most of anything. UPS: Very catchy, melodic, and fun. DOWNS: none. Drums 6/10 Dominic James Howard Drums Well it's fairly easy to say that the music is not based around drums. it sounds very much like most drum beats. though it provides a nice backbone for everything else. not much to say about it. |
