Pandorum is a movie about space travel, monsters, and psychosis. It takes place in the very distant future, when mankind has run out of room and resources on Earth, so we send a ship out to a distant planet to colonize and expand the human race. But, something goes very, very, wrong, and when the crew wakes up from hypersleep on a ship with almost no power, man-eating monsters waiting to eat them, and a psychological disease called Pandorum waiting to take them to maniacal psychosis, they have to fix the ship and each other before there is no one left. Writing: 9/10 OVERALL: 9/10 Final Word: Pandorum was a great psychological thriller/horror/and sci-fi movie. The story and feel are reminiscant of a Dead Space, Mass Effect, and a sprinkle of old-school Doom, but there are enough unique elements to make it feel original. The mystery in the movie is great but one of the twists was advertised beforehand and became rather obvious to myself before it was "revealed". The movie doesn't really rely upon standard horror gimmicks, but still uses a few here and there. Some parts were original (the characters used knives, clubs, and spears to kill the monsters instead of bullets) while other parts were cliche (the ending is kinda cheesy), but the combination of action, supense, a good story, and good acting form a solid movie. |
