Avatar was more about showcasing a brand new way of shooting movies, which means good things for the future, and less about the film you're watching, which means bad things for this review. I will say that the movie is stunning, and the alien world of Pandora was a great way to showcase how far CGI has come. The plot and characters weren't as stunning. In a plot that is more predictable than the dictionary, no unexpected turns are taken. At the end. I got the sense that the past 3 hours, no I'm not exagurating, was just a gigantic, and transparent metaphor for the Americans screwing over te Native Americans. However, in the style of General Custer, the technologically advanced civilization loses to the race that is in tune with nature. It carries the length of Titanic, but you won't feel any connection to the characters. (And at least Titanic was straightforward about what it described) Cinematography: 11/10 OVERALL: 5/10 |
