THE FLIGHT Fyodor was trapped. There was no way he could tear down the basement door, as he owned few tools and most were in his garage. He couldn't call anyone because he had left his phone by the bedside. He was almost sure that this would become his grave. The storm had stopped but his pump had broken and his basement was under a half-inch of water. He hadn't heard a lot of emergency before, but now they were everywhere and he felt hope return to him. He had no idea how long he had been awake or what time he had awaken but he guessed it must have been a half-hour. At this time the sirens gained again but he heard them fading off. Before he could run across the basement to get a glimpse of what as going on he heard that noise again. It was louder this time but he could still barely make it out. He felt a tingle run down his spine, but it quickly left him. When he got to his small basement window he couldn't see anything unusual. The street was deserted as usual, and was only different than a normal day because of the downed limbs. As he turned back to look for something to break down his door he heard the noise again. It was progressively getting louder but not enough for him to decipher what it was. Upon searching his basement he found an old ax that his grandfather had left over last year to break up some fallen limbs. The handle looked half-rotten, but he was fairly certain it would do. He went to the stairs and began to viciously attack the door. The first few hits made little progress, but upon his fifth hit he had broken through. It was a small hole but the visible progress empowered him. After a few minutes of swinging the door had a big enough hole for him too clearly see the object that had trapped him. Apparently a large limb from a nearby tree had became pinned between his basement door and the side of his staircase. He managed to climb through the hole he had made. He was fairly exhausted from the work, and felt how out of shape he was. He looked over to the clock and saw that it was 1:37 PM, and he hurridly rushed over to the phone. However when he passed by his study's window he noticed what had been making the dreadful noise. As he looked paralyzed by what he saw it slowly turned around and upon setting its him it released the horrid noise once again thorugh a large hole in its throat. He was not sure how it walked this Earth but he knew the dreadful moan all to well.
