The Heroin Diaries is a book about Nikki Sixx [Bassist for Motley Crue] and his ride through hell and back. He takes us back to the 1980's and we start off during Christmas. Usually a happy day for everyone. Nikki Sixx spends the day alone hiding from his friends and family because he doesn't want to ruin their x mas. So then he keeps records of everyday for a year or so. The journey is dark and tells more than enough about addiction. Its even saved many people from going down the same one way street... Quality: 10/10 I must say that the layout of The Heroin Diaries is really amazing! Usually its one day of his life or one page then another paragraph or two from the present. Nikki Sixx and the people who wrote for this book reflect on how he acted and what he was doing. Then sometimes lyrics and pictures are thrown into the mix. The content is actually rather scary. One man using WAY to many drugs changes into a monster. With every monster is some sort of personal hell. Another thing he does is push people away. His band, friends, family etc... Help: 10/10 From all the press conferences, book signings, and forums Nikki Sixx has everyone says the same story. They had an addiction and The Heroin Diaries helped them face their monster. They always say that they owe their life to Nikki Sixx. That is proof enough to tell that he has helped tons and tons of people with addiction. Thats not all though. Nikki's fund raiser "Running Wild In The Night" is for children who were like him at a younger age. Alone and helpless. Now Nikki has been recognized many times. Even once on Capitol Hill. Extra Content: 10/10 So many photos and lyrics you could write a full length CD just using this book. Then the book has definitions and descriptions. Its all very outstanding.
The Soundtrack: 10/10 Yes this book has a soundtrack. It's called "The Heroin Diaries" and its by Nikki's side band Sixx A.M. the songs are all based on the book alone. Taking concepts and ideas, molding them into songs, and then projecting those out to the listener. I've listened to this soundtrack hundreds of times and it always just seems to get better. I would suggest if you buy the book you buy the album too.
