The Beast The two giants stood facing each other, for a few seconds of preparation before the fight. They both sized the other up and saw they were a close match. They needed no words, the fight between the breeds of Youkai were well known. Before long the tension was cut and the Usradai charged Malayos. He brought his mighty claws down upon Malayos but he blocked them with his weapon with ease. He swung back at the beast but the massive demon easily dodged the steel blade. The two fought for some time like this, but before long they began to fight more fiercely. The Alpha Usradai began to throw large pieces of earth and stone towards Malayos. The Lord of Hellfire had little trouble deflecting the projectiles, but could gain no ground against his opponent with steel alone. He pointed the tip of his massive weapon towards the beast and shouted "Laknacha"*. Immediately after this a large dark-purple flame erupted from tip of his weapon. Indayes was surprised, he knew a little of the Black Tongue but had never understood it well. However he felt different hearing them with his new powers. They weren't just words, somehow they were something more. The flame scorched the bear, but did little damage. The Usradai charged towards Malayos but he held his ground and shouted, "Tintion".* This time thousands of small glowing shards shot out towards the beast. The shards ripped at the bear but didn't bring him down. The mammoth beast dove for Malayos but only caught the blunt end of his weapon. The massive demon crashed into the ground and before it could rise Malayos drove his weapon through the beast's skull. He had won the fight with ease, something that the humans had trouble doing. The soldiers and Indayes looked upon Malayos with awe. He spoke to the frightened and astounded crowd.* "Men, look upon the corpse of this beast. Their kind has hunted your breed endlessly, but look upon it again. You have seen my power, and the power I hath granted. Join my kind, we have guarded the power old for many years. However, my predecessors refused to take up the sword except to defend themselves. They claim that the power will only bring destruction, but let that destruction be that of our common enemy. We have been granted a gift in our curse, the power to free ourselves from the threat of the beast tribes. I shall go and seek your lords and talk to them. They will have heard of my deeds here and should join forces with my kind. We shall form a covenant for our greater good, not the destruction our forefathers witnessed and spoke of. Let this be a new age where the Beast Tribes no longer threaten any race. We shall see some of our brothers fall, but it will not be in vain." * 1. Hellfire 2 . Ten Thousand Needles 3. This speech would later be known as the Sangri Poreen or Spoken Renewal
