Upon the Cheers of the Masses

Indayes could hear the cheers of the city rising up to him. The people were awed and over-joyed with the announcement of a new age. They desperately sought an age of peace, and in their darkest hour a hand had come forth to aid them. War had haunted them for generations past, but there would be peace for their children and their children's children. A new age was being ushered in, and Indayes was at the front of the tides of change. The humans had secluded themselves for too long, and with a triumphant roar they would return to the world stage. A few seconds after the announcement the Council led Indayes back to Malayos who was waiting in the large gallery with the stern mage from earlier. "I suppose I was wrong demon," were his only words.
"Young one, you have done well for both of our races. We have discussed the details of our alliance for some time, and you will be a champion of this new alliance. For you are not entirely human, and not completely chained to Hellfire. You will come with me, and we shall go to the lands I reign over. It will take some time for the news to spread, and to amass our great hunt. You will train, and be tried. We shall build of you a champion, who shall ride into the plains of combat and enforce the power of our alliance. Glory is for the taking, and by your split authority both of our kinds shall be blessed," spoke the Lord of Hellfire.
"Indayes, I agree with all that Malayos has said. Upon your shoulders lies the fate of two kinds. If you can master your own existence and free our kinds than we will all be eternally bound to you. Fate has chosen you to do great things, and you should always be wary of what seems right and what is right," added the High Magistrate. With a few more words to the council Indayes and Malayos were soon ready to leave. It was later in the afternoon by the time they left and once they had cleared the city gates Malayos spoke again, "Now that we are free of their wards we shall take the quickest road to Bara-Kun, the legendary city brought up by Indayes Hellfire himself. I doubt you are accustomed to magical means of traveling, so I suggest you brace yourself."
Malayos held out a small shimmering gem and began to chant in the same tongue the High Magistrate had used. The words were still foreign to Indayes's ears but were familiar to his soul. He did not understand any of the individual words, but he could grasp their overall meaning. Each sentence resonated with power as Malayos commanded the seven elements: Fire, Water, Earth, Air, Arcana, Light, and Shadow. Indayes could see darkness enveloping the two of them and in the utter darkness he felt the sensation of movement. In a personal eternity across some five minutes, they speed through the Eternal Ether towards the demonic capital. When the darkness broke Indayes opened his eyes to what appeared to be the antithesis of the Tama-Karai.
This city was equally beautiful, but in an opposite sense. It was not a shrine to the light and the beauty of the sky. Instead it was a tribute to fire and stone. The city was hidden deep within the ground, and every building had been carved out of the stone. Several magma flows ran across the low end of the city and around the central palace, and was the largest source of illumination. There was a great beauty in the city, but it was not the beauty that most humans appreciated. However, it was a city that any demon could cherish.
